S.B. 100.12 | Executive Team Camera

By Rachel Murphy and Isabella Sloan

The Student Government Association does not have a designated camera to be used for SGA-related advertisements, projects, and events. Advertisement and photography is crucial for the success of SGA and gives a professional feel for the Instagram and website. Therefore, the 100th Student Government Association Senate allocated $100 to purchase a designated camera for the Student Government Association to be used for SGA-related advertisements, projects, and events, and the Executive Team matched the rest.

S.R. 100.13 | Multicultural Senator
Bylaw Change

By Gabe DeVries, Rachel Murphy, and Tre Lewis

To most people including some multicultural representatives there is no distinction between multicultural representatives and senators. This change would require a meeting with the DEI office at least once a month. Anthony Williams, the chief diversity officer and Head of the DEI office, has agreed to have these meetings. RESOLVED that the 100th Student’s Association Senate change the SGA bylaws as highlighted below.

S.R. 100.12 | Multicultural Senator in
Diversity Council

Being apart of the Diversity Council will increase the role of multicultural senators

We opened up the discussion of adding our four multicultural senators with Anthony Williams, the chief diversity officer, and he wanted to see more support of this proposition from SGA. RESOLVED, that the 100th Student’s Association Senate supports the admissions of our four multicultural senators into the Diversity Council.

S.R. 100.11 | Athletic Credit for Spirit Squads

By Isabella Sloan

Currently, the dance and cheerleading teams do not acquire a (PE) or athletic credit currently at ACU. However, the dance and cheerleading teams have to follow same protocols and implications as other athletes on campus including the NCAA sickle cell test, physicals before participation, and athletic concussion screeners but are not considered for a PE credit. Spirit squads spend time working 3 to 4 practices a week and accumulate time on weekends which averages 6-8 hours a week. This does not include performances at games which can accumulate to 13 to 14 hours weekly. Therefore, the 100th Student’s Association Senate helps push for ACU SPIRIT SQUADS on campus to acquire athletic credit.

S.B. 100.09 | Sophomore Capsule

By Tamil Adele

During the sophomore year of college, students often feel disconnected from their institutions and fall into the “sophomore slump.” This slump includes a lack of motivation. A means of combating the issue of disconnectedness would be to implement a yearly sophomore capsule. This capsule would involve a recording where the students leave a message for their future selves. BE IT ENACTED that the 100th Student Government Association Senate allocated no more than $75 to the funding of an annual sophomore capsule.

S.R. 100.14 | VOICE Organizational Status

By Ryland Mallett

This resolution seeks to achieve two different goals: validate the need of the student body for public conversations about sex and sexuality and petition administration to instate VOICE as an official student organization with all of the rights, freedoms, and responsibilities thereof. The 100th Student’s Association Senate authorizes the Executive Cabinet to petition administration to acknowledge the need of the student body for continued and nuanced conversations about sex and sexuality by recognizing VOICE as an official student
organization.

S.R. 100.10 | Encouragement Cards

By Jag Penson

Since Dead Day and finals week can be a stressful and difficult time on campus, encouragement is welcomed and needed. Therefore, SGA (led by the engagement committee) will set up and run a table in the campus center with note cards, markers, pens, and fun stickers, and provide a place for students to write and pass along the cards. SGA will provide chapel credit to those who participate. To fund this initiative, the Senate allocated $25 to purchase the necessary materials.

S.R. 100.11 | Presidential Runner-Up

Reserved Spot

By Josh Hamm

Traditionally the most time and effort spent campaigning applies to the class presidential position, and involves a high level of commitment. The loser of a runoff, however, does have any participation in Senate, regardless of apparent qualifications or passion. In order to place the most qualified people into positions who shall benefit the Senate and student body, the 100th Student Government Association Senate amended its bylaws so that the 10th general Class Senator position will be reserved for the runner-up of the Class President runoff.

S.R. 100.09 | Aluminum Recycling

By Ethan Delwood

SGA’s Sustainability Committee has agreed to revitalize existing recycling containers in several public spaces to be adapted to recycling aluminum cans, and to divert up to $200 otherwise put toward Green Week to finance this revitalization. It is conceivable that the measure would not only re-gain the money put into this investment but even make a financial profit that would run over into Green Week’s budget, creating a surplus by the end of the semester.

S.R. 100.08 | Elevator Maintenance

By Tamil Adele

Elevators and equipment of its likeness, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, are to be inspected every twelve months. Most of the elevators around campus show that the elevators we use have not been inspected since 2020. ACU must look out for the safety of its students and employees, and the inspection of these elevators is a vital part of that safety. Working elevators that are safe are of great importance, especially for individuals who depend on them, such as people with disabilities. Therefore, the 100th Student’s Association Senate urges the administration to inspect all elevators around campus.

S.B. 100.08 | Ballot Randomization

By Gabe DeVries

There is currently no law governing the way in which names are ordered on ballots for SGA. Since people who are not taking voting seriously or are only voting for one specific person may choose the top person/people on the ballot (giving those at the top an advantage) the 100th Senate establishes a law in which candidates are placed randomly on all future ballots for SGA.

S.B. 100.05 | Senior Gift 2023-2024

By Ryland Mallett

It is a lasting tradition for the senior class SGA representatives to facilitate the

donation of a gift to ACU that provides a tangible way to give back to students while commending the work done by that year’s graduating class. This year, the senior gift is a bill to contribute $5,000 to be matched by the admissions department to complete the budget for a fully furnished theater space on campus.

S.R. 100.07 | Scholarship Improvement Research

By Ryland Mallett

The resources ACU provides students for finding and applying for scholarships unrelated to the university are insufficient for the needs of the students body. A survey of the student body would give SGA representatives and ACU leadership more insight and hard statistics into the needs of the student body to help make better informed financial and policy decisions.

The intramural fields do not currently have a visible tract of keeping score and time during games for the audience and the players and providing one will provide benefits to students. S.R. 100.01 | Change parking sticker location

By Johnni Fuller

Student safety and comfort is a top priority of the university. The student parking stickers being in the current location provides an identifiable mark of the demographic in the vehicle, and moving the parking stickers to the front windshield provides students the option to limit unwarranted identification while traveling off campus. Implementing a change in sticker placement does not impose additional costs on the university and mitigates feelings of unease in students regarding off-campus safety. Resolved the 100th Senate authorize this request to be

undertaken by the Executive Cabinet to support student safety.

S.B. 100.02 | Staff Appreciation

By Tamil Adele

The 100th Senate allocated no more than $1,700 to give an end-of-semester gift to staff on campus as a sign of our appreciation and a way to acknowledge their contribution to ACU’s campus because we could not effectively function without them.
