Play Devil’s Advocate
Having civil conversation among your peers about differing ideas is the best way to have a well-rounded worldview. Even if you advocate for the side that you don’t agree with, it’s good practice to think from someone else’s point of view when debating a policy/plan.
At the end of the day, if we all thought and believed the same things, there would be no need for government. It is the differing opinions and unique perspectives that makes our country so great!
Separate the Policy From the Person
It is important to understand the policies and platforms that politicians campaign with and be able to look at their plan for what it is. Though a person’s character is extremely important to consider on voting day, first and foremost, know what they stand for and are going to enact if/when they are elected.
